Emmanuel Nyaletey, Founder and CEO of BridgeSolar, took the stage at the 2024 E-Scrap Conference in Orlando, Florida, joining a panel focused on the Basel Convention and the global electronics recycling trade.
He drew attention to the effect international regulatory shifts have on communities in the Global South, particularly in Africa, and called for African needs and realities to be represented while rules are drafted.
His remarks were a call to the recycling and reuse industry to champion inclusive policymaking and recognize access to affordable, refurbished electronics as a matter of economic opportunity, environmental justice, and human dignity.
